Christmas on Green Street - Gainesville! (Weather Permitting)

The Christmas on Green Street event replaces the previously scheduled Brunch & Winery Tour in Dahlonega. It was my mistake to not check the date of this event before scheduling the Dahlonega trip. We'll do the Brunch/Winery in Dahlonega early Spring.

This is an all day event, so come as early as you want, leave when you want. Looking at the schedule, the main thing I want to do is the tour of the historic homes on Green Street, so I'll likely be there the first part of the day (12PM - 4PM). We can coordinate meetup location and time as it gets closer. :)

Join the City of Gainesville for our annual Christmas on Green Street celebration! This magical event includes a parade of antique cars, holiday floats, and marching bands starting at the Gainesville Civic Center and continuing all the way down Green Street!

Before the parade, Green Street will be closed while people visit the historic homes and enjoy musical groups performing on front porches, magicians, face painters, balloon artists, storyteller, jugglers, Santa Claus, miniature train rides, and food trucks.

The night will end with the Christmas on Green Street Parade and the traditional Lighting of the Rotary Tree at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Green Street and West Academy Street!

2025 Tentative Timeline:
12pm: Street closures Begin
1pm: Food Trucks Open
1:30pm: Floats / Cars begin lining up for parade
2-4pm: Activities and Performances at the Historic Homes on Green Street
3pm: Floats and Antique Car Judging Begins
3:30pm: Walking Groups Stage at Civic Center, Roads clear of pedestrians
3:55pm: New this year – Green Street Santa Sprint Begins!
4:05m: Christmas Parade Begins
5:45pm (or whenever the parade is finished): Rotary Tree Lighting
7pm: Roads reopen (or whenever roads are cleared)
