Hi Game Developers,
We have something extra special in the works for you right now! The International Game Developers' Association (IGDA) has approved Sacramento to make a Local IGDA Chapter! Matt Anderson and I are mid-way through the legwork, and you'll see more from us as we progress since we're going to be working closely with Joe and the entire Meet-Up.
The IGDA is a powerhouse for indie game dev's. If you don't know who they are, check 'em out! They have the numbers and the connections to really make things happen in the games world in the interest of "individuals who make video games."
If you are currently an IGDA member, I need your email. The IGDA will use your emails to secure our status as a Chapter. If you're not a member... Give it some thought! Game studios (5th Planet!), consider these perks! Or students, how about a scholarship pass to the 2013 Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco? So much more awaits! But, we'll get to that...
If you have any questions or thoughts on what we're doing, replies to this email will go straight to me, so hit me up.
I want to leave you with an idea of what this will look like in the future. Matt and I are friends with some pretty cool people in the association, like the Executive Director Gordon Bellamy, and they want to help us make big, exciting things happen. Today we are laying the groundwork to connect you with people and opportunities and to bring speakers from hubs like L.A. and San Francisco. We also want to get you access to even more resources for the game jams, community education, and mixers already in place in the Game Dev Meet-Up.
More to come soon! Look for another email with an official Chapter website and more details in the next update.
p.s. if you are an IGDA member, send me your email!
