What we're about

This is a group dedicated to getting gamers together in New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia area.

Any gamer is welcome; Board Games, role playing games, board games, tabletop games, board games, LARP, board games, X-Wing Miniatures, and there are so many more options and opportunities. We play a lot of board games.

This group is LGBTQ+ Friendly.

A lot of the board games played are more complicated than a standard family game, so the age range for board game meetings is age 13 and up. Anyone under the age of 16 requires adult supervision. Reasons being some foul language is used by members and some games have themes that may not be suitable for children. (examples: Zombies and other Horror themed games, games where a traitor is revealed, and Cards Against Humanity.) Some of these games take 2 or more hours to play, have extensive rules, and a ton of small pieces.

Seating at some events are limited, so please RSVP in advance and if your plans change then change your rsvp. Please do not show up if you have not rsvp'd and the list for that day's event is Full. Seats cannot be promised to those who do not rsvp.

If you are looking for a certain game, players, or a gm then please post in the Gaming Classifieds (http://www.meetup.com/gamersofthecherryhillarea/messages/boards/thread/38640522) on the Discussion Boards.

The Suggested tab (http://www.meetup.com/gamersofthecherryhillarea/#suggested) is for posting meetings, meet and greets, character creation, and other games with openings, actual dates, times, and locations.

The Discussion Boards (http://www.meetup.com/gamersofthecherryhillarea/messages/boards/forum/1252168) are for posting to recruit players or see who is interested in a game. If you are just asking for people to message or e-mail you directly and you are not posting an actual date, time, and location for a first meetup then that should be posted on the Discussion Boards.

If you have any questions please contact the Organizer of this Meetup.

Weekly Sunday Board/Card Games

Polsky's Corner / Tiki Tiki Board Games

THIS MEETUP WILL ALWAYS BE FREE OF CHARGE - If you have questions look for Jerry or Scott as sometimes paid events (mostly tabletop role-playing) will be occurring during the same time as our meetup. Play something you like, play something old, play something new, meet other gamers, have some laughs. Group (and location) are LGBTQ friendly, and able to host as many as 30 people playing games. Snacks are available, and there's plenty of lunch/dinner food within walking distance. We generally play 'modern' style board games. This includes both "Eurogames" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurogame ) and "Americathrash/trash" boardgames ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amerigame ). But there are plenty of nostalgia games available as well if you can find some players. There is a 'rental' wall for games at the location, which are available free of charge during the meetup, as well as games brought by participants. Feel free to bring some games and group up with other attendees. You can list what you'd like to bring in the comments section below. Feel free to bring some long games. Where will we be meeting? Polsky's Corner, at 164 S Broad Street, in Woodbury NJ. Parking is available across the street in the Police parking lot (It is public) and on the street itself.

GOTCHA Game Jam

468 Mercer St

For the Month of July, GOTCHA is running a little game jam/contest - There will be 3 meetups throughout the month focused on designing a game from scratch, each participant will be designing their own prototype, and we will be playtesting all of the prototypes in early August. Anyone is welcome to join, and the rules are simple: Your game must be entirely yours, and must be a prototype that has not had substantial work prior to the beginning of July. Your game must be playable (though certainly not ready for publishing or anything of the sort) by the beginning of August. Meetings will focus on collective feedback on individual mechanics, and helping each other get through 'problem' areas. This is the third meeting and the last before showcasing our games. By this point, your game should be playable, most of your game mechanics should be established, and generally in a state where you're looking to tweak or balance your game. As before, you are welcome to attend as long as you have a game in development (or contributions to someone else's), even if you missed previous meetings or want to work with a different game than the one you've shown us previously.
