About us

Welcome to Gastrosophy!

The goal of this group is to create a space for young people in Amsterdam to gather and explore a new way of embodying the present together, a way that honors humanity's relationship with ourselves, each other, and (our) nature.

We meet at a Tibetan Buddhist center called the Nyingma Centrum, which is in the heart of Amsterdam.

However, you don't need to be Buddhist to come - folks of all backgrounds and faiths are very welcome to join in on the fun!

We meet over seasonal, plant-based dinners prepared by Samantha and Lorenzo, who are both graduates from Slow Food's University in Italy.

After dinner, we enjoy a fun, open dialogue on a pre-chosen topic related to life's challenges. We all inquire together, with no authority.

What Nature Teaches Us About Generosity | Dinner & Dialogue (Gastrosophy)

Nyingma Centrum, Reguliersgracht 25, Amsterdam, NL

Welcome to Gastrosophy!

This week we explore what nature teaches us about generosity, reciprocity, and gratitude.

Gastrosophy is a community gathering that brings people together around good food and meaningful conversation.

Join us this Thursday, June 25th for a fun evening of seasonal, plant-based food and open dialogue at a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist center in the heart of Amsterdam.

Our aim is to create a space where people can slow down, share a meal, and explore life's questions together. Through food, conversation, and community, we seek to deepen our relationship with ourselves, one another, and the natural world.

We'll begin with refreshments and introductions at 18:00.

At 18:30, dinner will be served, prepared by Samantha and Lorenzo, graduates of Slow Food's University in Italy.

Following dinner, we'll briefly introduce the center and its activities. While the gathering is hosted in a Tibetan Buddhist center, people of all backgrounds and beliefs are warmly welcome. No prior interest in Buddhism is required.

After the presentation, around 20:00, we’ll engage in an open dialogue on a pre-chosen topic related to life’s challenges and opportunities. Rather than debate or instruction, the aim is shared inquiry: exploring together as equals.

To help cover ingredients and preparation costs, we suggest a donation of €25-30.

Questions or dietary restrictions? We'd be happy to accomodate you. Feel free to contact us at sdellim@umich.edu.

We hope to share a meal with you soon.

Sincerely,
Samantha & Lorenzo
