Cooks! The November Test Kitchen is happening on Sunday the 15th in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley Neighborhood.

This month’s optional Test Kitchen challenge is our annual Thanksgiving Dry Run. Before the big feast arrives, take a dish for a test drive and see how it performs under real-world conditions. Try a new stuffing recipe, tackle a lattice-topped pie, experiment with roasted vegetables, reinvent the green bean casserole, or finally attempt those dinner rolls you've been eyeing. Whether you're planning for Thanksgiving or simply inspired by the season, this is your chance to workshop a holiday-worthy dish.

The Test Kitchen is an event where you make something you’ve never made before, experiment, try something technically challenging, or make something that deeply intrigues you. Successes are worth celebrating—and so are failures, the pie crust that shrinks, the rolls that emerge denser than expected. Every dish teaches us something, every dish has a story to tell.

Please post your dish to the event’s Comments section at least two weeks before the event to let the other cooks know what you’re planning to make. The sooner you share, the sooner everyone can start getting excited about the feast to come.

Bring your curiosity, appetite, and perhaps something to put leftovers in!

Previously at the Test Kitchen
October’s Vampire’s Bane Test Kitchen brought a frightfully fabulous feast of spooky creations: Rosemary-Garlic Challah fragrant with home-grown herbs; Bagna Càuda with a collection of colorful veggies; Spooky Black Pasta in a creamy, garlicky sauce; Rav-Ear-Oli, cheese-filled ears in bloody red sauce; Korean Bossam with ssamjang, Napa cabbage, and radish kimchi; “Finger” Sandwiches, Wiener Ghosts, Serpent Salad, and the courage-testing Sicilian Gems, chocolate-dipped roasted garlic; Ectoplasm, a pistachio-marshmallow fluff so sweet it nearly killed us; Sesame Ice Cream with Chocolate Cream Cookies and Pumpkin Ice Cream with Pumpkin-Spice Cookies; and the wickedly inventive Black Garlic Basque Cheesecake with chocolate ganache and swoon-worthy sesame praline. From garlic-fueled delights to sugar-induced paranormal activity, our cooks proved that Halloween horror is best served on a plate—and shared around the Test Kitchen table!
