Adirondacks Hiking and Cabin

Details

This is our first time hiking in the Adirondacks and I'm really excited to introduce the group to this area. It's some of the best hiking in the Northeast; with pine forests, clear running streams and rocky mountains. I reserved a cabin in the heart of the High Peaks. It's a 3.5 mile walk from the trailhead, but it's a popular area with other lodges nearby, so we won't be totally isolated. The hiking will be more challenging than anything we've done before. If you are a regular with this group you should be ok, as long as you aren't somebody who usually hikes at the back of the line up. It's going to be incredible!

THE CABIN
We're staying at Camp Peggy O'Brien, near the Adirondack Mountain Club's John's Brook Lodge. It sleeps 12, has heat and a propane stove. Bunks and mattresses are provided, but you need to bring your own sleeping bag. Water is from a pump outside. The bathroom is an outhouse. I put some pics in the photo section on Meetup. Here's the link, you have to scroll down for Camp Peggy O'Brien. https://adk.org/lodging-and-camping-information/

SCHEDULE
I booked the cabin from Wednesday to Sunday morning, but if you want to arrive Thursday or Friday that's ok.

GEAR
Hiking boots are required, as these trails can be wet and rough. NO SNEAKERS. Warm layers and RAIN GEAR ARE REQUIRED too. A sleeping bag and a backpack to carry your stuff are needed also. I will provide a more detailed gear list later.

DRIVERS
WE NEED DRIVERS! It's better than taking the bus. Park at the Garden Parking lot in Keene Valley. We're looking into renting a van too. I'll provide more details later. Here's the Google map pin

BUS FROM NYC
Trailways departs from the Port Authority. Their September schedules are not posted yet, but I think it will depart 7am and arrive in Keene Valley NY at 1:30pm.

FOOD
Bring enough food for yourself for the days you are there. Let me know if you have questions. The cabin provides pots, pans and plates.

WAILTLIST
Everybody will be on the waitlist at first. I'll move you to Going after I collect a $50 deposit for your share of the cabin. We'll split the cost of the cabin, so the more people who sign up the cheaper it will be. I'm estimating $150 per person. You can Venmo me @Bill-Wilson-92

I think we will have room for everybody who wants join us.

FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS. This trip will be amazing!
