High Tech Fashion: Build Your Own Smart Clothing

PLEASE NOTE: you need to fill in this form in order to secure your spot at the workshop:

Join us at Women Techmakers Amsterdam on 27 March to celebrate the amazing work being done by incredible women to create a better world using technology.

You can already sign up to our first workshop and dive into the world of high tech fashion.

The workshop:
With electronics and innovative processes, Fashion Tech Designer Marina Toeters connects high tech with fashion. Her technological designs not only make garments more beautiful and exciting, they also change our view of how we experience clothing.
During the hands-on workshop you will make a wearable piece of technology.
We will send a little tool-kit to your address. Using tiny LED-lights that can be turned on and off with a "soft switch", you will build in a simple circuit. Then you place this technology into your body by connecting it to your garments. Marina will guide you through every step. She will then give a little talk, putting your work into the context of what is currently happening in the field of Fashion Technology.

About Marina Toeters:
Marina operates on the cutting edge of technology and fashion design. Through her business she facilitates collaboration between the fashion industry and technical innovators for a relevant fashion system and supportive garments for everyday use. She advises – via prototyping and a research through design approach – Philips Research, Holst Centre, fashion designers and others on product development. She designs and develops concepts to show the world how fashion could be made better and more sustainable. As a teacher, coach and researcher, she works for the fashion department in the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) and industrial design faculty in Eindhoven University of Technology. In 2019 Marina edited the book Unfolding Fashion Tech: Pioneers of Bright Futures and opened the Fashion Tech Farm, a studio, incubator and small-scale production facility for innovative fashion, based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
