### Agenda & Talks
#### 1. Android Auto vs Android Automotive: Transforming Vehicles into Intelligent Platforms
- Speaker: Eimy Blanco
Explore how Android Automotive (AAOS) is turning vehicles from simple transport into intelligent, connected platforms. As part of the Build with AI initiative, this session dives into the technical foundation of software-defined mobility:
- Under the Hood: Key architectural differences between Android Auto and AAOS, and why a built-in OS represents the future of automotive software.
- The Intelligence Factor: Utilizing Google’s AI ecosystem to personalize driver experiences and optimize vehicle performance.
- Battle of the Ecosystems: A head-to-head architectural and ecosystem comparison between Android Automotive and proprietary platforms like Tesla’s.
#### 2. Building My Own Android Launcher (and Rediscovering Android Basics Along the Way)
- Speaker: Renaud Mathieu
Modern Android development abstracts away much of the underlying system. Between Jetpack Compose, high-level architecture components, and modern libraries, it's easy to ship production apps without ever touching the primitives that make the operating system run.
Join Renaud as he walks through building a custom home-screen launcher from scratch, revisiting core platform fundamentals:- How the OS resolves the default home intent.
- Discovering launchable activities via `PackageManager`, `LauncherApps`, and intent filters.
- Managing real-time package updates with `BroadcastReceivers`.
- Hosting interactive widgets via `AppWidgetHost`.
- Deconstructing the task stack and back-stack behavior when the Home button is triggered.
