#### 2. Building My Own Android Launcher (and Rediscovering Android Basics Along the Way)

Modern Android development abstracts away much of the underlying system. Between Jetpack Compose, high-level architecture components, and modern libraries, it's easy to ship production apps without ever touching the primitives that make the operating system run.
Join Renaud as he walks through building a custom home-screen launcher from scratch, revisiting core platform fundamentals:

• How the OS resolves the default home intent.
• Discovering launchable activities via `PackageManager`, `LauncherApps`, and intent filters.
• Managing real-time package updates with `BroadcastReceivers`.
• Hosting interactive widgets via `AppWidgetHost`.
• Deconstructing the task stack and back-stack behavior when the Home button is triggered.
