Agenda
5:30 PM: Registration and arrival, networking
6:30 PM: Welcome remarks
6:45 PM: Goodbye AndroidView wrappers: Modernizing Media UIs by Julia Bibik
Ever wondered how your video playback works in so many apps? For years, PlayerView has been the reliable workhorse that carried a lot of use cases, from short-form videos to movies and ads. But as apps move toward a fully declarative future, wrapping legacy Views in an AndroidView can feel like a compromise. In this session, we will peek under the hood of the new AndroidX Media3 Compose libraries. You will walk away with a bunch of out-of-the box media-related composables and inspiration for your own Views-to-Compose migration journeys.
7:30 PM: Welcome to the Accessibility Jungle by Tati Riabova
Mobile Apps Accessibility has always seemed to follow easy and straightforward rules which made working with it similar to ticking boxes off a checklist: add contentDescription, don't forget to update stateDescription etc. That is until you have to deal with a bug that ignores all the rules.
Together, we will do a deep dive into how Accessibility Services, like TalkBack, actually work and how composables can suddenly disappear in the Accessibility Jungle.
