What we're about

We are a charitable not-for-profit with the goal to get GEEQs (that’s geeks with EQ) into IT and to keep them there!

GEEQ and its events are inclusive and open to everyone - but the main focus and goal are to empower all women who wish to commence or further their careers in IT.

GEEQ organises a range of virtual and in-person networking events including Speed Hiring, Fireside Chat, Book Club as well as special events like the annual all-women hackathon where in 2019 over 120 participants got together to solve real-world problems.

Please send us a note to hello@geeq.com.au if you would like to run an event with us.

GEEQ Speed Hiring: Google Creative Lab (online event)

Link visible for attendees

You all know the concept of Speed Dating. You get to know someone in 5 min, then you move on to meet the next person. If you like someone, you take it further.

GEEQ translated this into the world of job hunting. We are giving you the chance to get to know new job opportunities in the flash of a moment. If you like what you hear, you can take it further.

At GEEQ Speed Hiring, you have the opportunity to ask questions about the organisation, have a quick chat with hiring managers and/or potential future colleagues, and find out more about the role and the culture before you even put in your application.

Our partner for the next session: Google Creative Lab

The Creative Lab is a tiny part of Google, and their mission is to showcase the magic of Google to the World. They are strategists, makers, and storytellers working on prototypes, visions, and experiments. They have open contract roles (through their staffing partner ADECCO) that they are looking to fill at the beginning of 2023.

Jonny Richards, Group Creative Lead
Jonathan Richards is a Creative Lead at Google's Creative Lab, in Sydney, where he works on projects which explore the intersection between technology and the arts.

Two recent projects: Traces - a digital voice-to-art installation honouring 60,000 years of oral storytelling that premiered at the Sydney Opera House as part of Vivid 2022; Virtual Pilgrims - an exhibition at the British Museum in London which allowed visitors to interact with physical objects in the museum’s collection using their phone.

He lectures on new forms of storytelling all around the world, and was one of the founders of Hacks / Hackers in London. He is an occasional teacher and an unapologetic Rubyist. He also plays trumpet— rather more scrappily than he used to.

Jude Osborn, Senior Creative Technologist
Jude Osborn leads creative development at Google Creative Lab in Sydney. Jude has been tinkering with tech and writing software longer than he’d care to admit, having led countless development projects at Creative Lab and previously the startup and non-profits spaces.

Dana Baddar, Team Lead
Dana Baddar leads production at the Creative Lab in Sydney. Her previous roles at Google were Production Lead at the ZOO, an internal creative team working with top clients, and Head of the YouTube Space Dubai. Dana’s career has spanned creative production, strategy, and project management across tech, film, events, and the arts.
