Code For Dayton
Details
Code For Dayton is a monthly user group meeting at the downtown Dayton Innovation Hub. The meetings follow the "hack night" format - a little discussion and show and tell up front, followed by an opportunity to break into groups to work on civic or community oriented projects.
We're going to dig into two different problems with parcel data based on conversations we've been having over the past month.
1. Can we identify, map, & group parcel slivers with their parent? These slivers are problematic for the county & city ESPECIALLY when it comes to tax revenue and assessments.
2. Mapping rental properties. We've approached this from a few different angles, we'd like to aggregate those approaches into a single map to help some folks in the city of Dayton Sustainability Office.
This will be more of a Python, data science, and QGIS-oriented meeting rather than web app focused. I'm looking forward to the change of pace. :)
