About us

We are Generation X - Born 1965-1980 (Pew Research)
1961-1981 (Strauss & Howe), 1965-1984 (Harvard)

They've tried to define us over the years and shove us in a one-size-fits-all box, but we just won't go. If you were born between 1965 and 1980, give or take a few years on either side, and the 70's, 80's and 90's hold a special place in your heart, then you are Generation X and "Gen X Junction" is the crossroads of time where we meet!

Gen X Junction isn't your average Meetup group where hundreds or thousands of "members" appear on a virtual list but don't actually "meet up". It's a club, specifically a Gen-X club, exclusively for us Gen-Xers, where every event reminds us how good it feels to get out into the physical world to meet people and make friends, like the old days before the world told us to be content sitting on our couches, watching streaming services and scrolling on our phones.
We are real, in the flesh. We have a great time wherever we go and we'd love to have you join us!

The cost of membership is $25 per year, but we offer a 60-day free trial so you can see the value for yourself (you'll have to show up, though!). With your membership, you get access to events where the people you see on the RSVP list are the actual people you'll meet and become friends with. The membership dues are low, but they weed out the flaky types who sign up for events and either no-show or cancel at the last minute, or who join, but always "maybe" and "we'll see" themselves into perpetual inaction. The long-term vision, if there is enough Gen-X support here on Meetup, is that your membership dues will help us open a Gen X Junction Headquarters: a "third place" time capsule back to the 70's, 80's, and 90's that will feel like home to all of us. We're determined to make it happen, but we cannot do it alone!
