About us
East Bay Gen Z Hiking Club is for young folks around the Bay who want a solid reason to get outside and meet people without it being awkward. I started this group because it’s weirdly hard to make new friends these days unless you already have a built-in social circle. Hiking makes it easy: you’re moving, talking, and doing something fun at the same time.
Why join?
- You want to meet new people and make real friends
- You’ve been meaning to hike more but don’t want to go alone
- You want weekend plans that aren’t just bars or sitting around
What we do
Most events are weekend day hikes (about 6–10 miles) on East Bay trails. We keep it friendly and beginner-to-intermediate, and we’ll share the details ahead of time (distance, elevation, meeting spot, and what to bring).
Come prepared
Bring plenty of water, wear proper shoes, and pack whatever you need for the weather.
Everyone is welcome here.
This is an inclusive group across backgrounds, genders, sexualities, races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, and identities. Respect is the baseline.

Canyon Meadow Staging area, 7876 redwoods rd, oakland, CA, USJoin us for our third hike at the Stream, Tres Sendas, French, Orchard, and Bridle Loop at the Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. This moderate hike (about 6.7 miles) will take us under the canopy of redwood trees as we navigate over small bridges and forested terrain.
Alltrails Hike: Stream, Tres Sendas, French, Orchard, and Bridle Loop
Parking: Canyon Meadow Staging Area/Parking Lot
Meetup Location: Canyon Meadow Staging Area/Parking LotPlease arrive 5-10 minutes before 10 AM. We will start the hike shortly after 10:00 AM. According to some reviews parking can be difficult, so I recommend giving yourself ample time to find a spot before our start time. The park has multiple overflow spots earlier on the road, so it could be better to park there and then walk to the Canyon Meadow Staging Area. lf you are going to be late, please message early because we'll likely not have service at the trail. We'll do our best to hike as a group, but I'd recommend downloading an offline map of the area on Google Maps or the trail on Alltrails on your phone just in case you happen to get separated.
Please Bring:
- large water bottle
- snacks
- sunscreen
- good vibes
- hiking shoes
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
