AI on the Factory Floor: The Future of Manufacturing in Georgia
Thu, Oct 15 · 3:00 PM EDT
Georgia Tech Advanced Manufacturing Pilot Facility, 555 14th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, USA, Atlanta, GA, US
AI in Manufacturing — Live at Georgia Tech, October 15
The Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute (GTMI) is teaming up with the Georgia AI Alliance for an in-person event on October 15 at Georgia Tech’s newly expanded Advanced Manufacturing Pilot Facility (AMPF) on 14th Street in Midtown Atlanta.

RSVP Here

Much of the conversation around AI focuses on the office - chatbots, copilots, data analysis, and productivity tools. This event shifts the focus to the factory floor.

We’ll explore how AI is moving into the physical world of manufacturing: connecting with machines, robotics, materials, production systems, and people. Attendees will see real applications and live demonstrations inside one of Georgia Tech’s most advanced manufacturing facilities.

Who should attend
Anyone interested in the future of AI and manufacturing in Georgia is welcome, including manufacturers and industry leaders, technology companies, researchers, educators, workforce partners, and students.
Featured speakers
- Steven Ferguson, Principal Research Scientist and Deputy Director of the Georgia Tech Manufacturing Institute, will discuss how Georgia Tech and its partners are translating AI research into manufacturing applications, workforce capabilities, and industry adoption across the state.
- James Stovall, Co-Founder of the Georgia AI Alliance, will share how the Alliance is building Georgia’s AI community and helping accelerate the responsible adoption of AI across the state.
What attendees can expect
- A guided tour of Georgia Tech’s newly expanded AMPF
- Live demonstrations on the factory floor
- Georgia Tech students demonstrating AI and advanced manufacturing projects
- A look at emerging technologies and capabilities that could shape the next generation of manufacturing in Georgia
- Networking with manufacturers, technologists, researchers, educators, and students working at the intersection of AI and industry
- Practical insight into how manufacturers—from small and mid-sized companies to major production operations—can begin evaluating and adopting these technologies today
Why it matters
Manufacturing employs roughly 427,000 people in Georgia—about one in every 12 working Georgians—and remains one of the state’s largest and most important economic sectors.
The next phase of AI will not happen only behind a computer screen. It will increasingly connect intelligence with machines, robots, production systems, and the people who operate them. For Georgia manufacturers, that shift has significant implications for productivity, competitiveness, workforce skills, and the future of the state’s industrial base.
On October 15, we’re opening the doors so you can see that future firsthand.

Why are we doing this, and what does it look like?
AI is reshaping how we live, work, learn, and solve problems. Our goal is to help Georgians navigate that shift by preparing our workforce, connecting our community, and partnering across industry, academia, economic development, and everyday Georgians, so ideas, opportunities, and talent can move between them.
We want Georgia leading in AI, not following, with adoption that's ethical, accessible, and creates real economic opportunity across our state. Whether you're building with AI, driving adoption in your company, or just trying to stay on the cutting edge, this lunch is for you.
