Georgia AT Section #7 Jacks Knob to Unicoi Gap

This hike we will start at Jack Knob (Foot of Brasstown Bald) and hike to Unicoi Gap. This will be a 7 mile hike.

The people who have been actively hiking on the quest to complete the Georgia AT will be given priority RSVP's... join the Wait List, if there are openings I will allow others to join before the event date.

Dropping out of this event the week of the event will greatly affect your future hikes with me... Do NOT be a NO SHOW on events that people are on the Waiting List wanting to go. It is NOT fair to others for you to hold a spot, then decide you don't want to go for whatever reason.

We will hike on Jack's Knob Trail, from the parking lot at the base of Brasstown Bald, 2.5 miles to Chattahoochee Gap intersection with the AT. Chattahoochee Spring, the beginning of the Chattahoochee River is just over the ridge for those who wish to see it. From Chatt Gap we hike on to Unicoi Gap, about another 4.5 miles. That's a total of 7+ miles for the day.

This will be a difficult hike, even if we go slow. If you are not capable of doing long hikes with elevation gains over 1,300 feet do NOT attempt this trip. Our Goal is to let people that don't get to enjoy the trails, have a chance to get out and see the beauty that we enjoy.

If you are an experienced hiker, I would ask that you keep within the group to help with the new hikers. Tell your stories... talk about gear... help them figure out what it took all of us old timers years to figure out.

Bring a lunch, trail mix, snacks, and PLENTY of water or Gatorade.

Be sure to bring Hiking poles, Dress in Layers, Rain gear just in case never know about the weather

Do not be late we will not wait for you. This will be a long day of hiking.
