Cooking class with Manuela Young (former owner of Cafe Little Europa)

Hi everyone.  A couple of years back, the CT German Language Meetup Group visited Cafe Little Europa, a German restaurant in Brookfield, CT, for dinner.  It was a great restaurant, but the owner (Manuela Young) unfortunately had to close it some time ago.  She is looking for a new location to open a German restaurant again, but in the meantime has been offering cooking classes.

Manuela offers cooking classes at her home in Brookfield.  The classes generally begin at 6 p.m. and go until 9 p.m. (or later).  Manuela teaches the group how to make a specific German meal - appetizer, entree and dessert.  Then the group dines together, eating the meal they have prepared.

The cost per person is $50 and includes the instruction, full meal and one glass of wine or beer and coffee.  Manuela is willing to offer the class on a Saturday evening for our group.  The class size is generally 6 to 8 people.  I was going to schedule this as a meetup, but first wanted to see if there is any interest.

Please e-mail me at [address removed] (or reply to this note - responses will only go to me) if you are interested. Thank you!

Here are a couple of dinner options she has proposed:

Option 1

Appetizer:  Kartoffelpuffer mit Apfelmus (German Potato pancakes with apple sauce)

Entree      : Rindsrouladen mit Rotkohl und Semmelknoedel ODER Spaetzle (Beef rouladen (thin sliced beef filled with onions, bacon, mustard and pickles), Red cabbage and Bread dumplings OR spaetzle

Dessert:    Apfelstrudel mit Vanilleeis (Applestrudel with vanilla ice cream)

Option 2

Appetizer: Moehrensuppe mit Cumin (Carrot cumin soup)

Entree:      Huehnchen in Paprikasosse mit Spaetzle und Gurkensalat (Chicken Paprikash with Spaetzle and cucumber salad)

Dessert:    Palatschinken mit Vanillaeis und Erdbeeren und Sahne (Palatschinken (crepes) with vanilla ice and strawberries and whipped cream)

Regards,

Michelle
