Pushing Git Repos to Warp Speed: A Deep Dive into JGit's reftable Backend

GerritForge, Google, SAP, and the JGit community have spent years enhancing the performance of Git repositories, a necessity as AI-driven development causes an explosion in refs, blobs, and data volatility. This talk will detail Git's internal object organization and the limitations of its original design and we'll show the journey to dramatically improve Gerrit's speed, focusing on the new reftable backend.

As Gerrit's founder, Shawn Pearce, used to say "Performance is a feature", and there's plenty of performance to be found with this latest changes.

I'll also cover the techniques we used to simulate massive repository workloads, measure performance gains, and identify key breakthroughs in accelerating Git.

Enabling Seamless SSO in Gerrit Code Review
As software development teams scale and adopt diverse authentication ecosystems, seamless and secure access to developer tools becomes critical. Gerrit offers multiple options to integrate with enterprise identity providers through Single Sign-On (SSO).

In this talk, we will explore how to configure SSO in Gerrit using two key plugins: the OAuth plugin, which supports a wide range of identity providers (including Google and custom OpenID Connect providers), and the GitHub plugin, which offers native integration with GitHub’s authentication.

We’ll cover real-world use cases, configuration best practices, and common pitfalls when integrating Gerrit into an existing SSO infrastructure.
