Enjoy all the peace and solitude that Everglades National Park has to offer. This is the Everglades that we all imagine; vast sawgrass prairies and lots of wildlife and alligators.

The bike ride is on a 15.8-mile paved loop right through the Everglades. At the halfway point, there is a 60-foot observation tower, where you will experience magnificent vistas.

We'll take our time to take pictures, ascend the tower, and sit and enjoy the tranquility of the morning in the Everglades.

We should be done by noon and head back toward Miami for a well-deserved lunch at The Pit Bar-B-Q. or another place

Bike rentals available for $20 at the Visitor Center.

There is an entrance fee of $30 per car, unless you leave your car outside the park and ride your bike in, in which case you'll pay $15 per person. People 62 or over can buy an annual pass online for $20 that covers access to this and 2,000+ other national parks throughout the country.

Bring enough water, sun protection and bug repellent.
