Overview

This gem of a park features a coastal mangrove wetland and subtropical habitats. We will walk about three miles on three trails and climb a 68 foot observation tower. The Lake Observation Trail winds through mangroves to edge of West Lake. The Mud Flat Trail offers viewing of wading birds. Finally, we will walk a portion of the South Trail under the intracoastal bridge to the gazebo overlooking the intracoastal waterway.

When it opened in 1996 after years of planning and development, this 1,501-acre nature center became the largest in the Broward County park system. This award winning park is rich in plant and animal life, including some threatened and endangered species.

Directions: Travel east on Sheridan Street towards the ocean. Just before the Intracoastal bridge, turn left into the park.

What To Bring: Water, hat, sunscreen, binoculars, and insect repellent.
