THANK YOU for your interest in volunteering at the 4th Annual SF Juneteenth Parade on Market Street! You're joining a team of hundreds of dedicated non-profit staff members, city workers and volunteers who are committed to making sure the African American communities in SF are celebrated during the Juneteenth Freedom Day Weekend!
We'll start at Market & 2nd Street and move through downtown to the waterfront, closing out at Embarcadero Plaza near the Ferry Building.
Juneteenth Volunteer Requirements:
- Most of the volunteer roles require long periods of standing and/or walking and lifting up to 20 lbs.
- All volunteers are expected to stay the full duration of their shift (4 hours including breaks) - please be sure to only select a shift that you can fully commit to on the day of the event.
- If you have any physical or dietary restrictions, please be sure to notify us in advance.
Juneteenth Volunteer Roles: Check in at 9:45am [Shift Time: 10am - 2pm]
- Set-Up Volunteers: Set Up street closure equipment including barricades, cones, delineators and closure signage. May include festival equipment set up as well such as tables, tents and chairs.
- Crossing Guards: Monitor intersections and maintain pedestrian crowd safety.
- Staging Volunteers: Assists with coordination for the lineup of contingents and parade participants.
- Route Monitors: Consists of a mobile team that guides the contingents down the route helping to maintain a safe speed and flow of direction throughout the duration of the procession.
- Floater Volunteers: Floaters will support other volunteer roles as needed such as setup/breakdown of the staging equipment at the festival celebration. This includes but is not limited to block assistance for watch party hosts, staging equipment and some waste management.

*Parking is extremely limited downtown San Francisco, therefore volunteers are encouraged to take public transit to the event.
