March Meetup, the Brown Mountain lights

We will meet in the parking lot at Wiseman’s view overlook this would be off of Highway 181 just outside of Morganton

There is a long gravel road from the main road to the Wiseman view parking lot use caution on this road. It may have potholes. No one has been up there recently so we do not know the condition of the road. The main thing is keep moving if you slide off into a pothole, don’t stop keep moving. Want anyone to get stuck.

This event will be held weather permitting obviously, if it is raining in the mountains, we would have to cancel. For this investigation, I would suggest bringing binoculars night vision goggles night vision binoculars, telescopes things of that nature it’s not like they’ll come right up to a K2 lol

From Wiseman view overlook across the valley to where they come up over Brown Mountain is about 2 miles. Also need to wear comfortable walking shoes. There is a paved path from the parking lot to the area of the overlook. Once you get there there are some steep steps so be careful walking down there. It is dark.

If your camera has any type of telephoto lens, you may want to bring a tripod set a camera up. We have actually gotten pictures of the lights doing that.
