We are the Pittsburgh circle of the Nur Ashki Al- Jerrahi Sufi Order. We do Dhikr the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. We are all inclusive and heart led, we recognize the Divine spark in every Soul.

Dhikr is not the repetition of a word; it is the gradual remembrance of what the soul has never truly forgotten. In the beginning, the tongue remembers while the mind wanders. Then the heart begins to participate, and the Name moves beneath thought, beneath intention, beneath the boundary between the one who remembers and the act of remembrance. The seeker does not repeat Allah in order to bring Allah nearer; Allah was never absent. The repetition removes what obscures the Presence. With each Name, something false is worn away until remembrance becomes less an action we perform and more a state into which we enter. At its deepest, dhikr is not our remembering of Allah at all—it is the awakening to the truth that we have always been held within His remembrance.
