Dhikr (or zikr) is the central spiritual practice of remembering God through the repeated invocation of His names, sacred phrases, Qur’anic verses, or prayers with the tongue, heart, and whole being. In the Sufi tradition, dhikr is more than verbal repetition—it is a disciplined path of polishing the heart until the constant awareness of the Divine replaces forgetfulness, allowing love, humility, gratitude, and inner peace to flourish. Whether performed silently or aloud, individually or in a circle, dhikr seeks to align the soul with the reality that God is always present, transforming remembrance from an act one performs into a state in which one lives.
