From Fei-Fei Li (the "Godmother of AI") saying, “The goal of AI should be to augment human intelligence, not replace it”, to Dario Amodei predicting, “In 12 months, we may be in a world where AI is writing essentially all of the code.”
The debate about what AI means for our jobs as software engineers is becoming increasingly polarized. Some believe entry-level jobs will be replaced by AI. Others predict that all programmers will become obsolete. At the same time, many argue that our role will remain just as important, if not more so, as we focus on problem-solving, creativity, and system design, while AI takes over more of the repetitive aspects of coding.

Tonight, we will explore what it means to be a programmer in the AI era. How will we continue to grow and evolve in our careers? How will the way we code change?

To help answer these questions, we will hear from two speakers: one at the beginning of their career and one with multiple years of experience in the trade. What do they think AI means for their future? Will it affect their ability to get hired or advance in their careers? Will their jobs fundamentally change, or remain largely the same? How do you grow from junior to senior in a world where AI can write code? How does mentoring and coaching juniors change? And how are they already using AI today: to learn, to grow, and practically to build software?
