Unconscious bias in Machine Learning

Online event

THIS IS A FREE EVENT - RSVP IN THE LINK BELOW https://www.eventbrite.com/e/120565748399 Machine learning is the next technological revolution. Every aspect of our modern lives is already touched by it in some way, and there's no sign of it slowing down. So why is it that only a small minority of developers have any training in ethics or to recognize AI bias? Creators of AI technologies are learning the hard way that these technologies can amplify the racial and gender prejudices in society. As machine learning makes more and more decisions about our lives, it's critical for everyone to be aware of these limitations and to work actively to challenge them. Jessica will be discussing where these biases come from, what we're doing to combat them, and how we can do better in the future. Code of Conduct: Girl DevelopIt mission is focused on providing opportunities for women to learn web and software development, but our classes and events are open to all genders and identities.
