Intro to HTML & CSS
This 4-class HTML/CSS course runs back-to-back on Monday/Wednesday for two consecutive weeks. If you're just learning to code, interested in web development, comfortable with CMSs like Wordpress and Tumblr but craving more control, this is the class for you! We will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS, give you some readily-applicable skills, and answer any questions you may have along the way. This is an introductory course that covers the basics of building a website. TOPICS COVERED: • Class 1, Introduction to HTML: Mon Dec 10th, 7-9pm • Class 2, Introduction to CSS: Wed Dec 12th, 7-9pm • Class 3, HTML, beyond the basics: Mon Dec 17th, 7-9pm • Class 4, CSS, layouts and formatting: Wed Dec 19th, 7-9pm You can take a sneak peek at the material here: https://www.girldevelopit.com/materials/html-intro TECH REQUIREMENTS: Your laptop and charger. Note: A netbook or tablet is NOT a substitute. Please install the following free software prior to class (if you run into problems, we will help you at the beginning of our first session): 1) Chrome (https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/) 2) Sublime Text 3 (http://www.sublimetext.com/3) (If you have a text editor like Atom, Textmate, etc, you're welcome to use that. SCHOLARSHIPS: We offer needs-based scholarships for people interested in taking any course over $50 who may not be able to afford the registration fee. ABOUT THE TEACHER: After receiving a BS and Masters in Biology, Mahdi discovered his passion for programming and began his journey as a self-taught programmer. For the past 5 years, he has been teaching and creating technical curriculum for students in middle school and high school. Mahdi works as the Curriculum Manager at All Star Code, a non-profit focused on creating economic opportunity by developing a new generation of boys and young men of color with an entrepreneurial mindset who have the tools they need to succeed in a technological world.     Girl Develop It is an non-profit organization that exists to provide affordable and accessible programs to women who want to learn software and web development through mentorship and hands-on instruction.

    If you can no longer attend the class you signed up and paid for, your payment will be donated to the local chapter scholarship fund. This helps us keep class costs low and you can help another woman in need!
