This is a 2-part workshop, starting on Saturday 6/10 - Sunday 6/11. Your attendance is expected at all classes in order to participate. The class time will be from 10:30am-3:30pm both days with a break for lunch.

This is an Introduction to IOS programming. You will learn and get a good understanding of Swift, the Apple eco-system, Xcode and tools used in creating IOS Apps. We shall do a demo where we actually build an App. This course is not a deep dive into the subject. Given the tight time-frame you will get an overview of the subject which you can use to get started in your IOS career.

This class is appropriate if you are....

• Interested in making iPhone apps

• (and/or) Interested in learning the fundamentals of iOS software development

• (and/or) A technologist who works with iOS engineers and wants to better collaborate

• (and/or) An engineer who has started learning iOS but wants a structured environment to advance your learning.

This class will cover...

• Introduction to Programming and Swift

• Data structures in Swift

• The MVC Paradigm

• Intro to XCODE

• Creating Apps with the StoryBoard

• Auto-Layout

• Demo and writing a full app.

Prerequisites:

In order for you to get a lot out of this class, we'd like you to be familiar with basic programming concepts like objects, variables, collections, functions, and boolean logic.

A Macintosh running OS X El Capitan (10.11) and Xcode 7.2.

A modern web browser - either Chrome or Firefox with Firebug installed.

A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 2 (free; available for Mac, PC, and Linux).

Download and Install Xcode on your Mac before you come to class. You can download this from the App Store.

About the Instructor:

Radhika has worked with Large Banks, Media Companies (BuzzFeed) and Finance. Her expertise is Back End Programming.She has recently switched to IOS and the Apple eco-system and has also been teaching and volunteering along the way. Currently she is at a small Health Care Tech Startup hoping to solve some big problems with code.
