Are you ready to build on your HTML/CSS knowledge to start building real web applications? It's time to learn Rails!
Ruby on Rails is a framework that makes creating web applications quick, easy, and fun. It has a thriving community, strong job market, and many resources available to beginners. Ruby on Rails has powered applications like Groupon, Living Social, Twitter, Square, Shopify, Github and many more. Through class instruction, group exercises, and homework, you'll build a solid introduction to the fundamentals of Rails applications.
We will be using an online integrated development environment for this course provided by Cloud9 IDE (https://c9.io/) and Git/Github (https://github.com/) for source code revision control. Please sign up for both services ahead of time.
Prerequisites:
At this time, you will need to provide your own laptop - PC or Mac - to participate in the course. A recent operating system such as Windows 7/8 or OSX 10.8+ with the most recent version of Google Chrome or Firefox will make working within the Cloud9 IDE more pleasant.
This workshop will assume that you have some basic knowledge of Ruby and HTML/CSS.

For HTML/CSS, I would recommend working through:
- Code Academy's HTML/CSS track
