Girls Go Camping - Manchester State Park - Forecast say's mid-high 70's!!!

Details

It's a bit last minute but the weather forecast for next weekend looks so good I just couldn't resist! This will be the first of several planned camping trips for this year, and don't worry - there will be no hiking or squatting in the woods. All sites will be drive up, usually on the water, with restroom and shower facilities onsite because to us camping like a girl means camping with a bit of class and a little sass. It means sharing time with girlfriends in the great outdoors, think campsite cocktail parties and cookouts more so than 10 mile hikes in the wilderness.

This is a time to get away, de-stress, reconnect, adventure and have fun. Spending the days exploring this beautiful state or chilling on the beach or by the lake, then relaxing around the campfire under the stars with friends – and maybe a glass of wine, or twenty – can lead to lots of laughter and memories made.

Due to the short notice this is a co-ed trip, cross-advertised in other groups.

For each trip we will have multiple sites reserved - usually allowing up to 6 tents. Sharing is recommended to maximize attendance, but not required, and all sites are drive up so we don't need to worry about carrying heavy items too far. Every site has toilets and showers on hand, and each location is on the water, either beach or lake, so you can bring your tubes, paddle boards, kayaks etc.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are well behaved.

Where are we staying?
Set on the shore of Rich Passage, Manchester State Park makes the perfect getaway for day-trippers or Puget Sound campers on a Kitsap Peninsula road trip.

Military and maritime buffs will find intrigue at Manchester. The park is known for the large brick structure that was once a torpedo warehouse and an adjacent concrete casemate that once housed firing triggers and cables to the underwater torpedoes. The term "torpedo" was used to describe underwater mines in the early 20th century, when the fort was built to protect the shipyards at Bremerton. Middle Point, as the fort was called, stocked an underwater mine field during World War II.
These days, the former torpedo warehouse, with its stone fireplace, weathered beamed ceiling and windowless arches, has become a coveted wedding venue, reunion site and picnic spot against a forested backdrop of maple and Douglas-fir.

Located near Port Orchard, Manchester includes 2 miles of hiking trails, but the park's main attraction is its 3,400 feet of saltwater shoreline. Kayaking, swimming and diving (bring your own gear) allow visitors to take full advantage of this classic beach park with a view of Bainbridge Island on a clear day.

So what are you waiting for? Reserve your spot now!

Fees for this trip are $30 per tent. To minimize travel expenses we will also explore the option of carpools once we know who will be joining us.

RSVP Etiquette: Your RSVP is not confirmed until payment has been received and accepted by the organizer. Please take your RSVP seriously and remember - no one likes a flakey friend.

Cancellations made after Tuesday are non-refundable unless a replacement is identified (to ensure our host is not left out of pocket).
