Get together with the GitLab community to contribute, learn and win exciting prizes. Join us from April 16th 2026 through April 23rd 2026!

The Hackathon is a virtual event open to anyone interested in contributing code, documentation, translations, UX designs, and more to GitLab. Participating in GitLab's Hackathon allows you to work on issues that matter to you and advance your skills/experience while joining a global, diverse, inclusive team of contributors and GitLab team members. The Hackathon is scheduled to run for 7 days, to be inclusive. This accommodates participants who contribute during both their work hours and free time.

The scoring is aligned with the individual leaderboard, recognizing all contribution types, including:

  • Issue, note, label, and closing points
  • Event and content points
  • Forum and Discord points
  • Translation points
  • Bonus points

All activities on the hackathon leaderboard will be awarded at the same point value as activities on the main leaderboard.

To receive any points for the hackathon, contributors must merge at least 1 MR during the hackathon.
