What we’re about
Welcome to the Glasgow and Cinema Events Group! This group is for people who enjoy films, entertainment and social events. Our main activity is getting together to go to the cinema although there may be other occasional social events throughout the year.
Meetup charges each group a fee and we are asking members to contribute towards our running costs which is non-refundable and will be reviewed regularly. This group is NOT FOR PROFIT and contributions should be paid via PayPal (address below).
When paying by PayPal, please use the friends and family option and the Glasgow Cinema and Events Meet Up address gcemu17@gmail.com. When entering the amount, please add a note stating your name as displayed on your meetup profile and your full name. This will allow us to trace the payment to you if someone has the same name as you.
You'll find our event hosts welcoming and friendly. We normally meet a few minutes prior to a movie start time to allow for introductions and depending on time and interest, there is a post-film discussion which welcomes lively debate.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP YES. If you are not sure whether you'll attend, please inform the host by messaging them or posting in the comment section. Meetups are subject to last minute cancellations if there isn't sufficient interest and the host isn't expecting anyone.
Once the cinema schedule is released, the host will confirm the start time of the film and the start time of the meetup, usually a few minutes before the film starts. Seat numbers will be noted in the comments section to allow members to sit together. If you'd rather sit alone, please do NOT post your seat number.
If you RSVP'd YES and you're not able to come along, please change your RSVP to NO. If it is short notice, please also comment so that the host knows not to wait for you. This is more than a courtesy, the host is trying to make sure the event is a good experience for everyone and may be left waiting for a member. If you are expected and don't turn up without having informed the host, we will consider this a "no show" if no explanation is provided. Please note that repeat offenders may be removed from the group.
We are an active group and we like all our members to be involved and to this end if you haven't attended an event in more than 1 year or you haven't paid your annual contribution, we reserve the right to remove you from the group.
