About us
Hi! Are you looking to try something new, meet new people, and pick up a new sport? Give korfball a go! You might be wondering—what is korfball?
Korfball is a team sport, similar to netball or basketball, yet with its own unique set of rules. Each team has eight players—four women and four men. The aim is to throw the ball into a basket on top of a 3.5-meter (11.5-foot) pole. Girls play against girls, and boys play against boys, using speed and skill to get free and score. It’s a fast, fun, and exciting game. Want to give it a try?
We offer sessions for everyone:
- Tuesday, Lourdes Secondary School, 7:00-9:00 pm (first and second team training)
- Wednesdays, Shawlands Academy, 7:30-9:30 pm (all ability session).
- Thursdays at Notre Dame High School, 7:00–8:00 pm (beginners session).
- Thursdays at Notre Dame High School, 8:00–9:00 pm (third team training).
Each session is led by our friendly coaches, who are passionate volunteers who dedicate thought, time, and care to each session. Whether you are looking to get started, improve your korfball skills, or even coach yourself, our doors are wide open.
We play competitive games about every three weeks and have three teams in three different leagues. Each game lasts 40 minutes, and we usually play two games on match days. We also participate in day tournaments, such as the Glasgow and St. Andrew’s beach tournaments, which are relaxed and perfect for beginners.
We also host regular social events, including game nights, axe-throwing, and ceilidhs, throughout the year. If you’re interested, just come along to any beginners’ session. We’d love to meet you!
No need to sign up in advance—show up, try korfball, and see what you think!
