You are welcome to join the program at any time. As the miles increase, you will want to ensure you can handle it. A road bike or a hybrid bike with narrow tires is best for this ride. If you have any questions about the program, please call John Montez at 480-899-3625. Don't ever worry about being left behind... someone will stay with you if you fall behind.

Beginner to Expert Saturday Training
10 to 30 miles in 5 weeks

Orientation for new road cyclists will take place on Thursday evening. Join John Montez at our Chandler North location, where he will walk you through what to expect during this program. This is not mandatory for participation, but it will be helpful if you are a new cyclist.

Training Program: Starts the week of October 18, and
ends November 15, 2024

Week One: 10-15 Miles

  • Show up prepared: What to ride with, bike check over, nutrition, sunscreen, and repair essentials.
  • Learn the Fundamentals of Road Cycling Communication: Hand signals, calling out debris, overtaking other cyclists, sharing the bike lane with other users, and interacting with vehicles.
  • Let’s talk technology: Apps that help with tracking your progress, finding routes, and computers or GPS units.
  • Rules of cycling: Be a Cyclist. What to wear, behavior, and other tips that will help you look the part.

Before attending, please make sure your bike is in proper working order. If you need help getting your bike back in riding condition, please stop by one of our locations. Global Bikes offers several service options to get your bike ready to ride. Bicycle service may take a few days, so please plan accordingly.
If you have read the description and feel that you cannot safely participate in the event, please wait until you are ready or consider one of our other rides.
GLOBAL BIKES RIDE WAIVER
When you attend this event, you are agreeing to the following:
While bicycling is an outstanding recreational activity, it also involves risks and dangers. Some of these dangers include, but are not limited to, traveling on or crossing heavily trafficked roads, steep descents, potholes, accidents, unexpected moves by another rider, physical exertion, fatigue, flat tires, and interactions with motorists. Ride terrain, pace, and distance may vary from the descriptions provided, whether written or verbal. In addition, mountain bike rides may involve steep descents on heavily rutted roads and/or trails, as well as rock and log hopping, and encounters with cacti, snakes, or other wildlife.
I acknowledge that Eighty Hour Weeks, LLC, Alan D. Lepak, and RMAL, LLC (all DBA Global Bikes) require the wearing of helmets as well as other safety gear and agree to hold Global Bikes and the ride leaders harmless for any injury resulting from my failure to wear a helmet or other safety gear.
The undersigned acknowledges that the risks recited above, as well as numerous other dangers, are inherent in recreational bicycling, and the undersigned agrees to assume all risks associated with participation in ride activities. The undersigned further agrees to save and hold harmless (following entities are all DBA Global Bikes) Eighty Hour Weeks, LLC, Alan D. Lepak, RMAL, LLC, and All its’ employees, ride leaders, coordinators, members, and other riders from any liability for any injury or damage resulting from, or in any way connected with, participation in group/store/club activities.
I warrant that I am competent to ride safely and that my bicycle and equipment are in safe working condition. I agree to obey all traffic laws and to practice safety and courtesy when cycling. I hereby consent to and authorize any emergency treatment in the event of injury or illness.
In the case of children under the age of 18, I agree to the terms of the above waiver for my child/children. I agree that Global Bikes, its officers, activity organizers, employees, ride leaders, and other members have no obligation to provide instruction to, or supervision of, my children.
I give Eighty Hour Weeks, LLC, Alan D. Lepak, RMAL, LLC, its employees, and agents unlimited permission to use, publish, and re-publish in any form of media reproductions of my likeness (photographs or video) with or without identification of me by name. I agree not to demand payment or any other compensation, and agree to hold the above parties harmless of all liability arising from such use.
I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS WAIVER, AND I AGREE TO BE LEGALLY BOUND BY IT.
