What we’re about

Hi! Are you a woman living or working in lower Westchester County? In your 50s or 60s and still professionally active? Then, this might just be the group for you! Join us at GLOW to find out.

We are a small social group, where women come to connect. What seems to bind us all together is a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and fun conversation. Once you make friends in GLOW, you'll find that most activities take place off-calendar as members make friends. The on-call events is just a small part of what makes this group more about the friendships we make than about the activities we post. The success of this group is not measured by the number of members or activities.

It all starts with showing up and being a friend. By being a friend, we mean that you should be welcoming; be respectful; don't cancel within the last couple of days before an event; don't be a no-show; and have a positive attitude.

To encourage an active group, we charge a $5 annual membership fee. It helps to offset the Meetup costs; anything beyond that we donate to a local charity once a year. Note that new members get a 60-day grace period. After that, Meetup drops you from the group automatically if the membership fee is not paid.

On the rare occasion when an emergency or other priority requires you to cancel within the last couple of days before an event, kindly show consideration. Contact the organizer to give a reason. Post a note under the event discussion to let the other members know. Think about what you would do if it was a close friend that you had to cancel on. You will be removed from the group for late cancellations, no-shows, or disrespectful behavior.

Event organizers do not pay a membership fee as they make it all possible for us to get together. You, too, are welcome to get to know the group and then become an organizer. It just takes organizing an event every few months or so. Whatever you enjoy doing. It is really a great way to make friends. Otherwise, you are most welcome to be a member. No one is pressured to be an event organizer.

Please refrain from using the group to promote your business. That comes naturally as you get to know each other. We do not cross post events with other social groups, unless it is a charity or volunteer event. Please do not post an activity unless you can host it. The intention is to have fun activities that encourage social interaction.

When you join, make sure your profile picture shows a clear view of your face, as this makes it easier to find one another. Please allow messaging from other members in the group, as this makes it easier to coordinate. Sorry, but a lack of either of these will get you removed from the group.

Welcome to GLOW. We hope to see you soon, Sally
