The Despeauxrados (VS) - Strawberry Gap/Trombatore trail out & back 10.5 EG 2415

This week's hike details: We will meet at the Strawberry Gap trailhead near Gerton, NC and hike the Strawberry gap trail to Blue Ridge Pastures then take Trombatore trail to Fire Tower road where Bearwallow Mt trail begins. We will have lunch here then return by the same route back to our cars. The trail has recently been cleared and there were no briars, poison ivy or yellow jackets! Also no water crossings when I pre-hiked it. Just make sure you drive through Fletcher to reach the trailhead (which will be on your right), because the road is still under construction coming the other way passing Florence Nature Preserve.
(I had hoped to include the Bearwallow trail up to the mountain to see the cows, but that puts this hike in to the VVS range with 13.3 miles and 2959 EG. Maybe a future Saturday GNHA hike.) There will be an opportunity to go to Burntshirt Vineyards in Hendersonville afterwards if there is interest .

This group meets Wed at University Square Shopping Center. The specific hikes are described 1 to 4 weeks in advance and target hikes which are 10 miles long and climb 2000 ft. We hike at approx. 2.5 MPH, faster or slower depending on terrain.
