HIKE SUMMARY: Mileage: 5.6 mi., Elevation Gain: 617 ft., Rating Moderate, Pace: 2 to 2.5 mph, Hike leader: Crystal Davenport.

HIKE DETAILS: Join us for a hike at Lake Russell WMA in Georgia, featuring optional stops at old homesites, a moonshine still, a graveyard, a small quarry, and a man-made cave where two brothers hid during the Civil War to avoid being drafted.

The hike is predominantly on old roadbeds, with short bushwhacks (about 1–2 football fields) to historical features. There is one required water crossing about ¼ inch deep.

CARPOOL INFO: Form carpools at Lowes Foods on Pelham Road, 3619 Pelham Road, Greenville, at 8:00 am, depart promptly at 8:15 am. We will meet in the corner of the parking lot across from Panera Bread and Double Dogs. Solo hikers can meet the group at Wendy's at I-85, Exit 19 at 8:45 or at the trailhead at 10:00 am. Solo hikers please make a note in Comments if you are not meeting at Lowes Foods.
