The Despeauxrados (VS) Hikes - Chestnut Ridge Heritage Preserve - 11.9 M/1778 EG

This week we will meet at the Chestnut Ridge Heritage Preserve trailhead parking area off Oak Grove Road, Landrum. We will hike Chestnut Ridge trail up to where it intersects with the Squirrel Mt. loop trail. We will loop around the base of the mt. then take the blue trail down to River Road. Next, hiking up the road to a small trail that leads down to the river, where we will have lunch. (We will have climbed 1100 ft before lunch.) Lastly, hiking the Chestnut Ridge trail back to our cars after crossing the South Pacolet River. (A rock hop). There are 2 more small creek crossings and also an opportunity to go to Moonshiners Falls. There will also be a 2 minute easy peasy bushwhack after lunch and many views of Hogback Mt.
