(VS) Chattooga Foothills Trail section loop hike

Hike details :
We will meet at the entrance of the “Cherry Hill Recreation Area” at about 9:40 Am and car pool from there just about 800’ down Hw. 107 to the trail head parking lot. The Cherry Hill area is closed during the winter months. We will start with the Big Bend trail, which is a beautiful trail that leads us right down to the Broad River and connects us with the foothills trail.
We will hike along the Broad River and have some amazing views of the river. There is a sandy are at the river where we can have a lunch break. From there we will enter the “Crack in the Rock “ trail which leads us back to the upper part of the “Big Bend trail “ and hike back to the parking lot.

The trails are in a very good condition but the last ice storm has caused a lot of limbs and small trees to fall on the trail. We will have to walk around or step over those obstacles !
We also have an Opportunity for the more ambitious hikers: from the parking lot we can access another trailhead that will lead us to the “lower Miuka falls”,and the hikers that are interested can take this trail after the loop hike. It will add another 3 miles and 150’elevation .
