This is a PRE-PICNIC hike for the annual GNHA summer picnic. Sign-up separately for the picnic event. You may sign up for either or both.
M: 5, EG: 400, R: M
Drive RT: 130 miles, Fee: $11 (includes entry fee to Chau Ram County Park.
Meet at Publix for carpools for 8:00 am departure or at trailhead at 9:30
Hike description:
The trail starts at Oconee State Park and follows the Foothills Trail for about one mile. The trail is well traveled and is rather rooty. The elevation is on way out, not bad!There is a beautiful view of the mountains toward Lake Jocassee and Table Rock.
NOTE: I will not be returning to Greenville . The group will need to organize a carpool. When entering the park you will turn right toward rangers station. continue pasr the little store on right and when approaching the campground. take the road to the left. it leads to the parking lot . it's a twisty road but is paved.
DO NOT GO INTO CAMPGROUND
Target is to make it over to the summer picnic by 12:30 pm
