An out and back hike via the Foothills Trail. We will pass Virginia Hawkins Falls and Laurel Fork Falls to the banks of Lake Jocassee where we will stop for lunch. Perhaps we may see some Oconee Bells.
Our pace will average around 2.5mph and at times approach 3mph. This is a long and challenging hike though very beautiful as we approach spring. The trail to Virginia Hawkins Falls holds steep ascents and descents which is where most of the EG is accomplished. The trail past Virginia Hawkins Falls to our lunch spot on the banks of Lake Jocassee is relatively flat. We will return to our cars via the same route.
