(VVS) Sam's Gap to Big Bald, 12.8 mls., 3136 eg.

Meet at the Sam's Gap trail head by 9:15am. Our hike promptly begins at 9:30am.

Using the AT, this is an out and back to an incredible view at Big Bald (5492') featuring a really good look at the Black Mtns., including Mount Mitchell. Going out the trail is pretty much all up with a steeper ascent near the top. We may be joined by a dog named Roscoe who has hiked with me and others in the past. We will return to our cars via the same route.

Post hike we can meet at local brewery for eats and drinks.
