Hike Description:
A Key Swap is two hikes in one: We divide into two groups: Upriver and Downriver Legs. Each group needs about the same No. of hikers to even out the carpools.
We'll trek the Chattooga River Trail (CRT) along this National Wild and Scenic River with stops at two waterfalls. The Upriver Leg starts at SC 28 and Russell Bridge, and hike upstream to visit scenic Licklog and Pig Pen Falls, then continue on the Foothills Trail (FHT) to Nicholson Ford Access.
The Downriver Leg starts in at Nicholson Ford and treks the FHT and CRT downstream to also visit both waterfalls and ends their hike at Russell Bridge. Along the way, the two groups cross paths, and the drivers conduct their “key swaps.” Both legs of the hike will move at a moderate pace to appreciate the natural setting.
