Rescheduled - (VS) - Whitewater Falls via Bad Creek

RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY MAY 30 DUE TO WEATHER
This hike will take in views of both Lower Whitewater Falls in South Carolina and Upper White Water Falls in North Carolina. The two falls drop a combined 800 feet in total and are generally considered the highest in the Eastern US.
The hike will start at the Bad Creek parking lot adjacent to the Duke Energy Bad Creek Reservoir. From the parking lot, we will take the Foothills Trail to the Lower Whitewater Falls Trail around Whitewater Mountain to the Lower Whitewater Falls viewing platform in SC. We will then retrace our steps to rejoin the Foothills Trail and hike up the trail along the Whitewater River to the Upper Whitewater Falls Picnic Area where we will stop for lunch. After lunch we will stop at the two Upper Whitewater Falls viewing platforms in NC and then retrace our steps back down the Foothills Trail to the Bad Creek parking lot. We will hike a moderate pace around 2.25 mph depending on the terrain and trail conditions.

We will meet at University Square across from Mr. Salsa at 8:00 AM to form carpools and leave by 8:15 AM for the 1 hour 15 minute drive to the Bad Creek Parking Lot.
If you prefer to meet at the trailhead, please arrive no later than 9:30 AM for a 9:45 hike start. Search Google maps for “Foothill Trails Lower Falls”. The parking area is sign posted from Whitewater Falls Road (SC 130).
Please indicate in the comments section whether you are meeting at University Square or the Bad Creek parking lot no later then the day prior to the hike.
