Panthertown Valley Hike
(S/VS) Rating (on the border between S and VS hike)
Hike starts at the Cold Mountain Gap Trailhead which is located on the Southeastern side of Panthertown above Lake Toxaway. We will take the Mac’s Gap trail to the Great Wall trail at the foot of Big Green Mountain. We will pass Frolictown and Wilderness Falls as we climb to the top of Blackrock Mountain (4495 elevation ) and lunch on Purdy Point with long range views of the valley and Little Green Mountain. We will drop down to the Sandbar pool then back to the trailhead.
Post hike rehydration at The Grand Olde Station across the road from Lake Toxaway. Mountain Lodge restaurant with a great bar.

Drive miles RT: 112 about 90 minutes to the trailhead. Carpool from University Square near Mr. Salsa's $9

Please arrive 15min early to form carpools. For a 8:00 departure from in front of Mr. Salsa in the Publix parking lot at 5000 Old Buncombe Rd.
