Despeauxrados (VVS) - Mount Leconte

Hike Description: We will hike the Alum Cave Trail to Mt. Leconte and then on to Mryrtle point or Cliff Top for lunch with a view. We will be returning by the same route.

Meet at University Square at 7:00 AM. Be at Alum Cave Trailhead at 9:30 AM. Parking Pass is required. If you plan to drive, you can get a pass online or at the Visitors Center at entrance for $5.00.

Parking can be a problem at the trailhead, , there is overflow parking beyond the regular lot. You may get a parking pass online here: https://www.recreation.gov/activitypass/AP2510 .

After the hike, we will stop for dinner at Bearwaters Bistro Creekside, 4352 Soco Road, Maggie Valley, NC 28751, on our way home.

This group meets Wed at University Square Shopping Center. The specific hikes are described 1 to 4 weeks in advance and target hikes which are 10 miles long and climb 2000 ft. We hike at approx. 2.5 MPH, faster or slower depending on terrain.
