Traihead parking- From the intersection of Hwy 178 and 11 go north on Hwy 178 about 8 miles. Turn left after crossing the bridge over the Eastatoe Creek, this is about 1 mile past the Rocky Bottom community and the turn for the Sassafras Mountain Road. Drive up to the Foothills parking lot. Round trip will be 5.6 miles. It will be up and down for about 2.3 miles then a descent of about 500 feet for the next 3/4 mile. Our reward will be the Eastatoe Narrows Falls. We'll take a break here for pictures, a snack and hydration. Then we return the same route ascending the 500 feet and make our way back to the parking lot. It will be hot and humid, bring plenty of fluids.
