HIKE SUMMARY: 10 miles and 1900ft elevation gain, 2.5mph. Leader - Charles D.
HIKE DESCRIPTION: We will park at the highest lot on Sassafras Mtn., our trailhead location. Meet at the trailhead at 9:00 AM for 9:15 departure. First we take a quick look see off the observation tower on the summit. Then we head down the FT Spur Caesar's Head Trail, dip down into Headwaters SF in NC. There, we hike a loop through the headwaters of Glady Fork, and then loop back towards Sassafras. Next, back in SC, we lunch at the Cantrell Campsite on the Foothills Trail. After lunch, it's the Carolina Hemlock Loop and back to the vehicles, with optional return to the observation tower.
TIMES AND LOCATIONS:

This group meets Wed at University Square Shopping Center. The specific hikes are described in advance and target hikes which are 10 miles long and climb 2000 ft. We hike at approx. 2.5 MPH, faster or slower depending on terrain.
