Let’s go north this week where it is (hopefully) cooler and hike a new and different area. This hike is mostly wooded, and the trail is soft underfoot and very well maintained. It is a very gradual incline with switchbacks up to a Firetower boasting 360 degree views of nearby peaks such as Mt. Mitchell, Roan High Bluff and Big Bald. Lunch will be on top of this sturdy Firetower and then it is downhill back to our vehicles.
I fell in love with this trail when I pre-hiked it! I think you all will enjoy it also.
A possible stop at Sierra Nevada Brewery afterwards. Carpool from Publix - 214 miles round trip ($16)
