Despeauxrados (VS) Hikes - Sassafras Mtn.

Trail Stats: 9 mi., 2330 ft. e.g., pace around 2.5 mph

Hike Details: We start at the foothills Trail Trailhead at the Laurel Valley parking lot, then cross Hwy 178 to begin the classic ascent of Sassafras Mtn. Weather should be agreeable with mild temps, clouds clearing out and slightly lower humidity by middle of the day. After lunch at the observation tower, we retrace our steps back to the parking area.

This group meets Wed at University Square Shopping Center. The specific hikes are described 1 to 4 weeks in advance and target hikes which are 10 miles long and climb 2000 ft. We hike at approx. 2.5 MPH, faster or slower depending on terrain.
