Let's build and deploy your blog already

In this mini-workshop with Sia Karamalegos, we're going to finally get that to-do list item done - building and deploying your blog. We'll use Eleventy and Netlify, and if you've bought a domain, we'll also set that up too.
We'll use this blog starter to begin! For setting up the domain, it is easiest if you can easily change where the name servers are pointing. I've found this pretty easy with Google domains, but feel free to use any provider!
It's best if you're already familiar with git, GitHub, the command line, and basic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Want to get a head start? Check out this video from THE Eleventy Meetup on Templating: Elevent's Superpower.

Olivia Sabo-Rush, GDG Organizer
Olivia Sabo-Rush, or Liv, is a New Orleans based software engineer, speaker, instructor, event organizer, and a Women Techmakers Ambassador. Liv was recognized on the 2019 Silicon Bayou 100 list as one of the most influential people in Louisiana’s startup scene. Liv started teaching herself web design over ten years ago, working late into the night to learn more and perfect her new creations. After graduating from Operation Spark's immersion program she was offered a position as an instructor/developer where she has helped dozens of other graduates enter the software industry. Liv joined DigiDems in the 2018 midterm election, where she was placed on Abigail Spanberger's congressional campaign, hoping to create change in the political landscape as a tech consultant. She was featured in the New York Times as one of the "Women Working to Elect Women".
Before pursuing her long sleeping passion for technology Liv pursued a career in dance. After leaving her hometown of Woodinville, Washington to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from California Institute of the Arts, Liv followed opportunities as a dancer in New Orleans. Liv is a founding member of Meryl Murman's FLOCK, has performed as a company member with Marigny Opera Ballet, has served as a clerical worker, webmaster, and performer for New Orleans Ballet Theatre, and most recently performed in an entry of Shannon Stewart's performance series BE / WITH at the New Orleans CAC. Liv's dance career led her to perform in Russia, South Korea, and Germany. Liv brings the artistry from her 20 years of dance training to her work as a software developer, creating beauty both on the screen and in her code. Even now she still finds herself working through the night, dancing across her keyboard.
In her spare time Liv co-organizes two New Orleans tech meetups, GDG New Orleans and #FrontEndParty. Liv is also the president of the Operation Spark Alumni Board and participates in community advisory boards at Tulane University School of Medicine. She also loves spending time with her two cats, Selena and Maddie.
